About Us

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) – Japan International Degree Programme (UTM-Japan IDP) is a Bachelor Degree Programme offered by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) for Malaysian and international students.  The programme provides opportunities for students to experience a world class teaching and learning environment. UTM-Japan IDP offers a Japanese-oriented engineering education (i.e. incorporating Japanese concepts such as Monozukuri and iKohza research based) allowing students to experience global education while enhancing their personal and professional developments.

As a leading Entrepreneurial Research University in Engineering, Science and Technology, UTM provides highly experienced and qualified academic staff as thought leader, communicator and teacher undertaking a range of activities to impart knowledge to students.
MJIIT provides 72 state of the art laboratories and research facilities which are tailored to UTM-MJIIT’s innovative curriculum to train students with the Japanese-oriented engineering courses equipped with Monozukuri principles. UTM equivalent with a minimum

CGPA of 2.60;

TWO years of experience working in related field for the applicants who obtained CGPA of less than 2.80.

Obtain at least Grade (C) at SPM level in the following subject:

MJIIT Laboratory is equipped with a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment and technology to suit your analysis needs. All of them are available for use by MJIIT students and researchers in UTM Kuala Lumpur.

4. What is the study mode?

Fulltime

5. How long is the duration of the study?

For local students the duration is generally 4 years (8 Semesters). International students are required to spend an additional 1 semester (max : 2 semesters) on Faculty Foundation/Bridging Programme and another 4 years (8 semesters) on degree programme.

6. Are the students under UTM JAPAN IDP programme eligible to apply for credit exemption?

YES. As stated in the UTM Academic guideline, credit exemption can be made by those who pass the subject, which is equivalent in any recognized Higher Education institution within their study period at the university. The subject applied for credit exemption must be equivalent and fulfills the programme curriculum that they are in. Credit exemption must not exceed 30% of the total credit of the programme.

The programme is awarded by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

8. Who is the owner of the UTM JAPAN IDP Programme, UTM or UTMSPACE?

The programme owner of the programme is UTM. The programmes will be conducted and managed at Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in Kuala Lumpur. The application and registration of UTM-JAPAN IDP programmes will be processed and managed by UTMSPACE.

9. Am I eligible to apply for this programme? What is the entry requirement?

The programmes are open to both Malaysian and international candidates that fulfill the entry requirements.

10. Where is the campus for UTM JAPAN IDP?

UTM-Japan IDP programmes will be conducted at the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur

11. Will the accommodation be provided for UTM JAPAN IDP students?

Accommodation is available for UTM-Japan IDP students, charged at a rate depending on the room type.

12. Can UTM-Japan IDP students change their programme to the mainstream programme

No, the entry requirements are different.

13. Which institutions will be providing the financial assistance for this programme?

Financial assistance is only provided to local students. Institutions that offer financial assistance are PTPTN, KSWP and others:

  • Biasiswa Endowmen (Merdeka/Alumni/Azman Hashim) UTM
  • Because we care chancellor fund UTM

 

14. Is PTPTN loan based on IPTA or IPTS rate?

PTPTN loan is based on IPTA rate. (Not up to 100% loan)

15. When is the student intake?

Student intakes will be in February and September

16. When and where can I submit the applications?

17. Do I need a pin number to apply?

UTM-Japan IDP application doesn’t need a pin number because it is an online direct application WITHOUT going through the UPU system
