Details

Students from Bachelor of Business Administration (International Business) will be pursuing their studies at the UTM Johor Bahru campus, the only Malaysian Public Research University located in the Iskandar Malaysia economic region. The university has a close proximity to an international business environment; therefore, students have first-hand experience about current developments within the region. The Bachelor of Business Administration (International Business) is a new academic programme offered by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). 1. What is the study mode?
The Bachelor of Business Administration (International Business) with Honours (SSPB) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is offered through both full-time and part-time study modes. The programme is delivered through a blended learning approach consisting of lectures, tutorials, case studies, research-based learning, project-based learning, and experiential learning activities. Students are assessed through continuous assessments such as assignments, presentations, projects, and tests, as well as final examinations where applicable.

The programme comprises a total of 124 credit hours for graduation. The curriculum is structured into four main course classifications: University Compulsory Courses (16 credits), Common Core Courses (42 credits), Discipline Core Courses (36 credits), and Programme Specialisation Courses (30 credits).

In the first year, students undertake foundational courses including university compulsory subjects and fundamental business courses such as Principles of Management, Principles of Marketing, Financial Accounting, and Economics.

In the second year, students continue with core business and international business courses, including International Business, Organisational Behaviour, Human Resource Management, Global Marketing, Foreign Market Entry, and International Business Communication, while also participating in service-learning and community engagement courses.

In the third year, students are exposed to advanced discipline and specialised international business courses such as International Business Negotiation, International Supply Chain, Foreign Exchange Market, Big Data for International Business, Technopreneurship, and International Investment. Students also undertake Research Methodology and commence their Final Year Project.

In the final year, students complete advanced strategic and professional courses such as Strategic Management, Global Financial Management, Commercialisation and Technology Transfer, Corporate Entrepreneurship, Project Management and Financing, Contemporary Marketing, and Crisis Management, alongside completing their Final Year Project.

Throughout the programme, emphasis is placed on developing students’ global business competencies, analytical and strategic thinking skills, entrepreneurial mindset, and practical industry exposure to prepare graduates for careers in international business environments.

2. What is the duration of the study?
The Bachelor of Business Administration (International Business) with Honours
(SSPB) programme at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is designed to be
completed within four (4) years, which is equivalent to eight (8) academic semesters
for full-time students.

Throughout the study period, students progressively complete a structured curriculum covering University Compulsory Courses, Common Core Courses, Discipline Core Courses, and Programme Specialisation Courses. The academic load is systematically distributed across the eight semesters to ensure students develop fundamental knowledge, advanced disciplinary competencies, and specialised international business skills in a progressive and comprehensive manner.

For part-time students, the duration of study may vary depending on their academic load per semester, subject to university regulations and programme requirements.

3. What is the entry requirement?
Prospective Malaysian students must fulfil the University General Requirements and Programme-Specific Requirements for admission into the Bachelor of Business Administration (International Business) with Honours (SSPB).

General University Requirements
Applicants must possess the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) or equivalent with the following:
• Credit (Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia or Bahasa Melayu July

• Pass (Grade E) in History (applicable for SPM from 2013 onwards)
• Meet the minimum English language requirement of Malaysian University
