Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Hannah Yeoh, attended the Green Youth Day@UTMKL Program Launch Ceremony organized by PEMKA, UTMKL Rakan Muda Secretariat, SPACE UTM, and UTM Lestari at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur today. In this program, the UTM MYGreen application was also launched, which was developed by a group of lecturers from SPACE UTM led by Dr. Salina binti Sadeli from the Centre for Diploma Studies, SPACE UTM. The application was designed to increase green awareness and campus sustainability among students. She also officiated the launch of the newly established UTMKL Rakan Muda Secretariat.
Among the essence of YB Hannah Yeoh’s speech during the opening ceremony was the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) approach to reinvigorating the Rakan Muda program through various improvements to have a more comprehensive and positive impact on today’s youth.
According to her, the improvement covers the development of the potential and character formation of youth, the development of potential, and the spirit of volunteering based on their interests, which institutions of higher education can coordinate. She also said that the definition of youth will also be changed to 15 to 30 years, compared to 40 years now, starting January 1, 2026. She congratulated the organizers and hoped that UTM could continue organising programs like this and cooperate with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in developing youth, which could be more proactive.
