UTM International Degree Programme

Bridging Programme

  • The Bridging programme (previously known as Faculty Foundation) for international undergraduates was first introduced by the University in 2007. The programme is offered in full-time mode, with a maximum of two semesters.
  • The programme aims to prepare students with a sound basis for progression to the undergraduate degree programmes at UTM by ensuring that they possess the necessary knowledge, values, skills and competencies. Students are encouraged to reflect on their learning, and to be increasingly self-motivated and self-critical, with assignments and examinations becoming progressively more challenging and demanding throughout the course.
  • Some International students are required to pass the Bridging Programme before they can register into their respective Faculty for their Degree Programme.

  • In Bridging Programme, students are required to register for 3 courses, as determined by their respective faculty/programme.
  • Courses offered are:

  • Students shall pass a course with a minimum of grade D+ AND with an average grade of C (CGPA = 2.00).
  • Duration of Bridging Programme is one semester and will follow Undergraduate Academic Calendar of UTM. Students have a maximum of TWO semesters to pass the Bridging Programme.
  • The CGPA obtained during the Bridging Programme will not be brought forward to the Degree Programme.
  • The centre for Bridging Programme will be in UTM JB campus.

BRIDGING EXEMPTION TEST

  • If students do not wish to go through this Bridging programme, they are required to sit for Bridging Exemption Test (BET). This test is not compulsory, as students may decide not to take the Bridging Exemption Test and therefore continue with the Bridging Programme for that semester. Students must pass the English Requirement before undertaking the BET.
  • Students need to pass all the three courses mentioned in the Bridging Programme module with a passing mark of 65% for each of the courses. Students are not allowed to repeat the Test Module. Those who fail will have to continue with Bridging Programme. If the students pass, they will be allowed to skip the Bridging Programme and register their degree programme at their respective faculty on that semester.
